Two-belt holder Anisha ‘The Massacre’ Basheel has fallen on boxrec rankings to 14 from fourth position after losing two successive international fights.

Basheel, who won the African Boxing Union and Commonwealth super lightweight titles, was disappointed to have slumped in the division, which has 126 boxers.

“I must admit my performance hasn’t been good lately. I was idle for some time and when I returned into the ring I lost the first international fight. I really struggled during that fight. I also lost another international fight last month, which has affected my rating,” said the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer who lost to Ramona Graeff on unanimous decision in Dubai on March 26.

She also lost to Sarah Achieng on unanimous decision on October 20 last year.

Basheel’s fight against Naomie Yumba did not take place as she was disqualified after failing to make the weight.

The 24-year-old boxer, who knocked out novice and compatriot Luckia Ali in the first round on December 26 last year, vowed to improve her rank.

“I really need to work hard to avoid dropping further as I will not attract lucrative title bouts,” the boxer said.

Interestingly, another MDF boxer Ruth Chisale has been ranked fifth out of 62 welterweight boxers. Chisale has 11 wins including six knockouts and two defeats.

Chisale’s manager Stephen Mawenzi Msiska said his boxer was attracting interest from top promoters in the world.

“She will not relent but work hard to qualify for world titles,” Msiska said.

Another well-known female boxer Ellen Simwaka is on position 13 out of 154 super bantamweight boxers.

Simwaka, 24, has nine wins including seven knockouts, five defeats and two draws.
