Malawi Defence Force (MDF) female pugilist Anisha Basheel faces a defining moment to revive her career when she squares up against International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion Estelle Mosley at Salle Wagram in Paris, France, tonight.

During Thursday’s weigh-in session, Basheel was lighter, having weighed 60.4kg whereas the champion weighed 60.9kg.

Basheel’s coach Andson Kazembe said the MDF boxer was in fine spirits ahead of the fight.

“She is a good boxer. She responded well to our training. We hope she will stick to our game-plan,” the South Africa-based Malawian boxing coach said.

Basheel, 25, who has 11 wins including 10 knockout victories and eight defeats, is longing for a belt to rebuild her reputation, which saw her winning two international belts.

She won the African Boxing Union title after knocking out Consolata Musanga on December 2 2017 in Kenya before winning the Commonwealth Female belt on June 15 2018 when she knocked out Sam SJ Smith in the United Kingdom.

In 2019, she failed to defend the Commonwealth belt when she lost to Chantelle Cameron on July 20 2019.
