Boxing star, Anisha Bashir, has promised to dent Chantelle Cameron’s perfect record as the two clash today in a 10-round World Boxing Council Silver belt fight at Brentwood Centre in Essex, England.
Bashir is confident of blasting the undefeated Cameron to earn a shot at unified world champion Katie Taylor.
Bashir told mtkglobal.com, that she was not in the United Kingdom for sightseeing but to ruin Cameron’s record of 10 wins including seven knockouts.
“I am not coming for shopping or just to see London. I am not coming for a chit-chat and tea. I am coming with all guns blazing,” she told the website.
Bashir has eight straight knockouts and believes overcoming Cameron is a pathway to greatness.
“Meeting Taylor is what every female lightweight boxer wants because the dream is to be a unified world champion. It does not get any bigger than this. It is the ultimate prize.
“Beating Cameron is just a key to the big door. My eyes are on the big prize and Cameron is just a bridge to walk over on my way to beating Katie,” she said.
Cameron admitted to www. boxingscene.com that the Malawian was a serious threat.
“We have to see if she can take a shot too. I do not know most of her opponents, so I question whether they can hit. She has got to take my power. I will be switched on with head movement because I know she is a puncher. Bashir and I are both big punchers. Her knockout record is very good. The difference is, she is wild with it and comes gunning in.
“I pick my shots and go body and head. As long as I stay switched on, I am going to hurt her. I know she can whack, so I am going to be careful with her power. She has never been hit by anyone like me, so I think that will be a shock to her. She is very reliant on her power,” she said.
