Annemarie speaks to BBC Music Introducing programme

Musician Annemarie Quinn had time to speak to BBC Music Introducing programme about her fourthcoming Blue Sky album.

Annemarie said she was happy to feature for BBC Introducing which discovers new artists giving them a platform to promote their music.

BBC Music Introducing is BBC’s Radio’s platform supporting unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar UK talent.

The platform gives artists the opportunity to be played on BBC local radio and nationally on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6 Music, the Asian Network and Radio 3 as well as playing Introducing stages at festivals such as Glastonbury where Faith Mussa has had a stint flying Malawi’s flag.

Since launching in 2007, Introducing has helped launch the careers of artists such Ed Sheeran and James Bay.

Interviewed by DJ Tom Salmon, Annemarie spoke about her Blue Sky album set to come out soon which has seen her working with a number of musicians including Faith Mussa.

“I am happy to talk about my album, what it is like living in Malawi and the collaborations I have had with amazing Malawian musicians. As the album is still being finished, rather than playing a track from there, they broadcasted the audio from the live music videos we shot last week,” Annemarie Quinn said.

She said her speaking to BBC Music Introducing will also help market Malawi to the world as well as some of its artists.

Other artists Annemarie has worked with include Patrick Chimbewa, a Nsansi player from Ntchisi and Lusubilo Band from Karonga.

The artist has performed in a number of platforms in the country including Tumaini and Blantyre Arts festivals.

She has also been in the forefront alongside Code Sangala using music to bring awareness about malaria through a Non-profit non-governmental organisation Music against Malaria.

Through Music against Malaria, Annemarie and Code have raised funds which have been used to buy equipment for hospitals with the recent one being Chikwawa District Hospital.
