Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has made arrangements to inspect progress of renovations at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe Friday.

Confederation of African Football officials declined to approve hosting of international matches at the China-built sports facility mainly because of the poor condition of the pitch.

Fam Club Licencing and Compliance Manager Casper Jangale said they were hoping that the stadium would pass the test ahead of the match against Ivory Coast.

“We must send the report about the status of Bingu National Stadium by Friday. Great efforts have been made for the stadium to comply with the standards. We remain optimistic that the match against Ivory Coast next month will be staged at BNS,” Jangale said.

For the first time in the history of football in the country, the Flames played a home match away from home after the BNS ban.

Malawi hosted Mozambique at Orlando Stadium in South Africa.

However, BNS has been cleared to host the Caf Champions League match between Nyasa Big Bullets and South African Premier Soccer League side Amazulu on Saturday next week.
