Police have arrested another People’s Party (PP) official, Ackson Kalaile Banda, in connection with a fake letter purporting that Vice President, Saulos Chilima has fallen off with President Peter Mutharika.
Kalaile, a staunch PP official and a vocal social media commentator, was arrested yesterday around nine o’clock in the morning in Nkhotakota District before being taken to Lilongwe in the afternoon.
National Police Spokesperson, James Kadadzera, said he was not aware of the development and said would comment when he confirms the arrest.
But Banda’s brother Josephat, said his brother was arrested at Dwangwa Trading Centre and taken to Nkhunga Police Station where he was held for some hours before being taken to Lilongwe.
“Police officers from Lilongwe travelled to Dwangwa to pick him up and now he is in Lilongwe. I don’t know which police station he has been taken to,” Josephat said.
Nkhunga Police Stat ion Publicist, Laban Makalani, was noncommittal on the arrest before referring us to Kadadzera.
Banda becomes the fourth person to be arrested in the matter after former President Joyce Banda’s sister Cecilia Kumpukwe, Stella Assani and Yesaya Stanley Mkwala.
