Anti-Corruption Bureau pounces on George Chaponda, Admarc CEO
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has invaded offices and houses of Minister of Agriculture George Chaponda in search for information related to the #Maizegate investigations.
The search and seizure operation has also targeted Admarc CEO Foster Mulumbe, PS for Agriculture Ministry Erica Maganga and five other directors in the Ministry of Agriculture.
ACB has also invaded Transglobe Limited offices. Chaponda is embroiled in controversy after findings of the Commission of Inquiry instituted by President Peter Mutharika implicated him as being suspected of ‘inappropriate, suspicious and corrupt’ dealings in the maize deal.
Several quarters including the Malawi Law Society, Opposition Members of Parliament and the Civil Society community have called on President Mutharika to fire Chaponda for his involvement and implication in the controversial maize deal.
President Peter Mutharika is yet to comment on the findings of the commission.
