Sheriffs on Thursday confiscated three personal vehicles belonging to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General, Grezelder Jeffrey over failure to pay K9 million in legal cost to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
ACB Director General, Reyneck Matemba confirmed the development but said the vehicles were returned the same day after she paid half the money.
“We want to recover the money which ACB lost during a case in which Jeffrey and others sued ACB for K70 billion compensation,” Matemba said.
In January 2019, High Court Judge, Charles Mkandawire dismissed Jeffrey and others claim with costs.
The Court ordered Jeffrey to pay K9 million after assessing the K23 million ACB was demanding as professional fees, Value Added Tax (VAT) and disbursement after it successfully wad off Jeffrey’s demand of K70 million.
