Apostle Joseph Ziba, founder and President of Fountain of Victory International Ministries, and Taezib Aziz are reportedly in talks with the Malawi Revenue Authority on the possibility of resolving the tax evasion case outside the court.

The two took heed of the advice of magistrate Viva Nyimba who asked the two parties to resolve the matter outside the court if possible when they appeared in his court for plea on March 19 2018.

Church sources close to the case told The Daily Times yesterday that the two parties are deep in talks but a full trial remains on the table if they fail to agree on anything.

Ziba was arrested early this month alongside Aziz for allegedly refusing to pay K26 million in taxes and fines levied on his multi-million kwacha Range Rover to the tax collector.

The two were separately charged with two counts of: failure to comply with customs laws and using falsified documents so as to deceive.

Both Ziba and Aziz pleaded not guilty to the charges and the State, led by Anthony Chumbu, asked for seven days to file and serve the defence with all the disclosures before they could start parading their witnesses to prove the case.

Defence Lawyer Michael Goba Chipeta, who is representing Aziz, told The Daily Times Thursday that he was yet to be served with the documents.
