About 10 artists will this Sunday perform in a concert dubbed Tribute to Fallen Artists to be held at Mibawa in Blantyre.
Sponsored by several companies, the concert will bring on board artists such as Lulu, Wycliffe Chimwendo, Wendy Harawa, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Edgar ndi Davis, Gloria Manong’a, Nyandoro Mthenga, Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera and Sangwani Munthali.
Rudo who is one of the brains behind the concert said yesterday that the show seeks to celebrate fallen artists.
“We have lost a number of artists lately and we thought we should celebrate their lives,” she said.
Some of the renowned artists the country has lost recently include Mtebeti Wambali Mkandawire, Maria Chidzanja Nkhoma and George Mkandawire.
“The artists are ready to celebrate the lives of fellow artists that have made a mark on the music industry but have since departed,” Rudo said.
She said people should look forward to the show where they will be taken down memory lane to relive the times when these artists entertained them.
“As Malawians join the world in commemorating Labour Day which falls on May 1, we also take time to remember our heroes in the entertainment-music workforce,” she said.
The concert is set to be beamed live on Mibawa Television.
The show will also allow a few people to be part of the live concert due to Covid.
