Musicians led by Annemarie Quinn and John Fire have teamed up to use music to fight cholera.
They have since organised a concert Saturday at Kwa Haraba Café in Blantyre with Annemarie, John Fire, Agorosso and Khonjwa set to perform.
Annemarie who has also been in the forefront using music to fight malaria alongside Code Sangala said yesterday that they decided to play a role in the fight against cholera ahead of the rainy season.
“The country has recently been hit by cholera and we thought we can use our talents to sensitise people about the disease and also take time to raise funds to support hospitals,” the ‘Blue Sky Thinking’ star, said.
John Fire said as musicians they were not only there for entertainment but also to help in tackling different issues to bring about change.
“With the rainy season, we need to be alert as far as cholera is concerned and this is why we decided to team up in this cause known as Music against Cholera. We will be holding concerts and the proceeds will go towards buying medical supplies. We will also be engaging people to support the cause in cash or kind,” he said.
John Fire real name John Ndaferankhande, said they will try their level best to be transparent and accountable with the resources they will be raising in this initiative.
“For us, it is all about fighting cholera and so, we will account for every penny we receive or every item we get and proceeds from this show will support purchase of pharmaceuticals to treat cholera at Bangwe Health Centre,” he said.
