AS Vita coach wary of Be Forward Wanderers

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s AS Vita Coach, Jean-Florent Ikwange Ibenge, has said Be Forward Wanderers could pose a significant threat to his charges in the return match next week Wednesday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Nomads lost 4-0 to Vita in Confederation of African Football Champions League preliminary round first-leg match on Sunday in a match played in Kinshasa.

Vita have been touted as the overwhelming favourites to progress to the next round, but Ibenge said Wanderers have home-ground advantage in the reverse fixture.

“They [Wanderers] are not a cheap team. They are a top team. We had more pedigree than them. We just have to take them seriously and not underrate them because they have some skilful players like that jersey 10 (Joseph Kamwendo) and the goalkeeper,” he said.

“We have to work hard and score more goals. But it all boils down to planning and seriousness. We will make the players understand that Wanderers cannot be taken for granted,” he said.
