Ascent Soccer Academy had a weekend to remember after winning two strength-testing matches in Blantyre as part of their Easter tour.

The team produced strong team performances during matches played at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township.

In the opening match on Friday, Ascent defeated Blantyre Under-17 Select 4-0 with goals from Levison Munyenyembe, Hermas Masinja, Vava Bedere and Rashid Chilomo.

The Lilongwe-based side completed its Blantyre tour with a 3-0 victory over Nyambadwe FC with Lovemore Mbeta netting a brace, with Munyenyembe scoring the other goal.

Ascent Soccer founder George Maguire hailed his troops for showing great character during the two matches.

“The boys have shown great character, playing two tough games in Blantyre in three days and coming through. We travelled to find some strong competition and credit should go to both the teams we played for giving us a great test.

“While our major focus is development over results, to come here and not concede in two challenging games while scoring seven goals without reply shows that our process is bearing fruits,” Maguire said.
