Athletics Association of Malawi (AAM) General Secretary, Frank Chitembeya, has said they are monitoring the on-going Standard Bank Be More race so as to scout for athletes.

“Actually, we are waiting for the national race, which will be held in Lilongwe, because that is where serious athletes will compete. Nevertheless, we have been monitoring the regional events just in case we come across rare talent,” he said after the bank held a regional race on Saturday in Blantyre where over 300 runners took part.

During the Blantyre event, Manson Bambala and Susan Tengatenga finished first in the men’s and ladies’ sections, respectively.

Bambala and Tengatenga said the result was an encouragement as they prepare for the final race scheduled for June 9 in Lilongwe.
