Epac FC Coach, Audloy Makonyola, was left disappointed after Epac suffered their second successive defeat against Kamuzu Barracks (KB) to exit the Fisd Challenge Cup.
Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat on post-match penalties at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe came after Epac also lost 1-0 to KB in a TNM Super League match at the same venue on Saturday.
KB have joined Zolozolo FC and Dwangwa United in the quarterfinals of the Fisd Cup.
In a post-match reaction, Makonyola said his side were punished for failing to bury their chances in regulation time.
“We played well and we created some chances but we failed to score goals. Penalties are lotteries and I cannot blame my players,” he explained.
“I think we deserved something better from the game but such things happen in football.”
Dan Ziba, Pempho Kamsichiri, Zinjani Yona and Manase Chiyesa converted for the soldiers whereas Amadu Makawa and Mude Jeffrey also scored for Epac.
Francesco Mkonde and Lyton Kapinda fluffed Epac’s spot kicks.
The victory was good news for KB mentor, Billy Phambala, who also praised his players for executing his game-plan well.
KB are also in the league title race as they are fourth on the log table with 40 points from 22 games.
