Awilo’s no show disappoints Lawi

Celebrated musician Lawi has said he is disappointed with Congolese star Awilo Longomba’s failure to show up for a show at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on Saturday night.
The ‘Karolina’ star was expected to jet into the country on Thursday, ahead of the show, but he did not turn up.
Lawi says in a video posted on his page that they made payments to Awilo’s team but there has been no proper explanation on why he failed to show up for the concert.
The Congolese artist was supposed to share the stage with Lawi in December last year but he failed to show up and apologised to Malawians in a video.
He then sent his second video for Saturday’s show where he assured people of his presence.
Lawi has since asked Awilo and his management not to apologise because they already did this last year, but rather to find a way to fix this.
In his video, the ‘Lilongwe’ star also spoke at length about integrity in business and said that what Awilo has done shows a lack of respect to art.
A lot of Malawians have supported Lawi on social media and have hit at Awilo for his no show behaviour.
Lawi said he had incurred over K15 million towards tickets and other payments for Awilo.
Meanwhile, despite Awilo’s no show, the concert is on and Lawi has been boosted by the presence of Patience Namadingo, who has since indicated that he will share the stage with Lawi for free.
He also said in a video post on his Facebook page that they will drop a song they have collaborated on during the concert.
In 2017, Awilo starred at the Sand Music Festival in Salima where his set disappointed people.
