After being out of the limelight for some time, Blantyre-based musician AyCeeX has resurfaced with her debut album titled The Gem in II which drops on Valentine’s Day today.
AyCeeX said on the 13thof February that she has deliberately released the album on the 14th of February because it is giftwrapped with love songs resonating well with Valentine’s Day.
“It is not a Valentine’s Day album but rather it is an album with love songs, and I thought I should target Valentine’s Day for its release,” she said.
The Blantyre-based musician said the album is a follow up to her Extended Playlist (EP) titled The Gem in I.
“The album is filled with love songs that everyone can relate to ranging from self-love, new love and lost love,” she said.
AyCeeX said she has been busy with work the past few years hence her silence.
“I had some free time enabling me to focus on compiling the songs I had been working on for some time,” she said.
The 10-track project has songs such as ‘Download’, ‘Briefly’, ‘Home’, ‘Floating’ ‘Stay’, ‘Letting Go’ and ‘Go Konko’.
The artist worked with a number of producers, and they include Sispence, Martin Anjelz, OBK Beats, Mwanie and K Proma Beatz with the final mix done by Sispence.
“I call upon people to access the album on all streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify,” AyCeeX said.
In another development poet Jane Senenje has also taken advantage of Valentine’s Day to release a poem titled ‘Chikondi’, which she described as a gift to lovers on Valentine’s Day.
“This poem is special for Valentine’s Day. It has been inspired by what love is like, sometimes it makes you do things you thought you would never do but on the other hand, it is also painful as things are not always perfect so, in general it is inspired by love, it is sugar and salt,” Senenje said.
