Babatunde Adepoju is fans’ best

By Mphatso Malidadi:

TNM Super League leading scorer, Babatunde Adepoju, has been voted TNM Super League supporters’ Player-of-the-Month for June.

The in-form Be Forward Wanderers striker has won fans’ hearts as the most outstanding player with 10 goals after joining from Masters Security.

The Nigerian becomes the first to win the newly introduced accolade.

Babatunde emerged winner through a voting process in TNM’s Pokopoko ndi Zampira promotions, having amassed 1,062 votes to beat four other contestants to the monthly prize.

He received K100,000 from the elite league’s sponsor, TNM.

Nyasa Big Bullets’ Peter Banda came second with 518 votes while Christopher Mtambo of Savenda Chitipa United was third with 201 votes.

Blue Eagles Captain Micium Mhone and Misheck Selemani of Karonga United shared fourth and fifth position with 89 and 52 votes, respectively.

Babatunde said he was delighted with the award and paid tribute to his teammates.

“It is all about teamwork. My teammates helped me to score the goals and shine,” he said.

TNM Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Limban Nsapato, said the award was an incentive to both fans and clubs, and promotes active engagement of soccer fans.

He said TNM remained committed to creating platforms for engagement with fans, in addition to other activities such as the Predict-and-Win Promotion.

“The Fans’ Player-of-the- Month award underscores this commitment. Now there is something for everyone. We will continue to innovate to ensure that soccer fans, players and clubs all have a reason to smile every season,” Nsapato said.

To come up with the winner, TNM, in partnership with Super League of Malawi, shortlists five outstanding players from which fans vote for their favourite by dialing *1515# and choosing ‘Player-of-the-Month’.

This year, courtesy of Zampira Promotion, three lucky winners would fly to Spain in September to watch a match involving giants Real Madrid.

The grand winner of the promotion would cart home K2 million, with the first and second runner-up going away with a motorbike and plasma screen, respectively.
