Back on my feet again

What will happen to your life when you decide to leave behind disappointment and collect the tattered bits of your life and go on? What will happen to your life when you forget that you do not have a degree and decide that you will do it now?

What will happen to your life when you decide to no longer to blame yourself for failure in education and look at your talents, perfectify them and package them as a product for sale? What will happen to your life when you decide to look at all failures as lessons that were like a chisel working on a better sculptor of you?

You have your own time frame for success. It matters nothing that your friends made it great early than you. It matters nothing that your friends are working in banks, insurance industries, put on gowns as judges and have their names gracing headlines of newspapers. What matters is how you are consistently working towards achieving your dreams.

You will still make it. No one, absolutely no one, should dictate the pace of your success. The greatest bottom line is that you be successful. As to when, that matters less. As long as you become successful people will not care at which age. If anything, you will become a role model and a symbol of resilience and success.

Brigette Hyacinth, a distinguished author and leadership expert summarises the need to be flexible with one’s time success zone. She eloquently puts it: “A 4 year degree attained after 7 years is still a degree. A graduation at 50 is still a graduation. A business started at 65 is still a business.

It is okay to start over and it is okay to run your own pace. Everybody works based on their time zone. Do not let people confine you with their timelines of success. They are in their own time zone, and you are in yours. You did not miss your moment. You are very much on time.”

People that make it great in life are those that resurrect from the limbo of disappointment ad failure. Failure chisels debris out of our minds and business conduct. Failure is the best university for success. Are you down? Be down but not out. Get back on your feet again.

The more you rise every moment you fall down; the better you learn how not to fall again, how to strengthen yourself. For any hindrance you meet along the way, just tell yourself ‘when I am back on my feet again I will conquer’ and surely you re-energise your belief and start again.

Seek inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi who said: “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I do not have it at the beginning.”

When you are back on your feet again you will be like Michael Jordan who having been cut from his high school basketball team, went home, locked himself in his room and cried still went on to become the best basketball star the world has ever seen – 6 time NBA champion, 5 time NBA MVP and 4 time NBA 4 star.

When you are back on your feet again you will join the revered theoretical Physicist and Nobel Prize winner Albeit Einstein who was not able to utter a word until the age of 4 and his teacher said to him that he would never amount to much. He went on to be one of the most celebrated physicist the world has ever had.

Get back on your feet again you will see yourself in the shadows of Oprah Winfrey who was demoted from her job as a news anchor because she was considered not to be fit for television but she rose to become the host of a multi-award winning talk show and the most influential woman in the world.

Get you back on your feet again you join Lionel Messi who at the age 11 was cut from his team after being diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency which made him smaller in stature than most kids his age but he broke all that to become 5 time FIFA world player of the year.

When you are back on your feet again, you join the club of elite and successful personalities like Thomson Mpinganjira, Napoleon Dzombe, Mike Mlombwa, Kalua of Combine Cargo, Jimmy Koreia Mpatsa, Kamuzu Banda, the Mutharika Brothers, Mulli Brothers, among many others. Behind their successes there are litanies of failures but they got back to their feet again and that made a difference.
