Bakhresa hands over K6.5m CSR projects
Bakhresa Milling Company over the weekend donated development projects worth K6.5 million to communities around Traditional Authority Nkalo in Chiradzulu south constituency.
The company handed over a four classroom school block to Mapesi Primary School valued at K2.5 million and also handed over to the community two boreholes drilled at a cost of K4 million.
Bakhresa Plant Maintenance Manager, Bangi Swamy, said the devastating heavy rains that occurred in January this year affected a lot of communities, and as a company they thought of giving back to their customers.
He said Bakhresa values the need for good quality education and safe drinking water.
“These are our customers and they support us through buying of our products. It is therefore important that we help alleviate some of the problems the communities face,” said Swamy.
The school block faced serious damage as walls collapsed and the roof was blown off.
“This affected studies at the school and we had to do something about it,” said Swamy.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the community was parliamentarian of the area, Joseph Mwanamvekha, who said education is a key to a successful nation.
He said it is important that pupils in rural areas are motivated to get educated.
