Bakili Muluzi meets Peter Mutharika
By Rebecca Chimjeka:

Former president Bakili Muluzi flew to Lilongwe Thursday for a meeting with President Peter Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace.
Presidential spokesperson Mgeme Kalilani Thursday could not say much about the meeting.
“I can confirm that President Peter Mutharika met with the former president Bakili Muluzi for three hours, but it was a private discussion,” he said.
Kalilani said it was not the first time for the two to discuss.
On Tuesday, Muluzi hosted Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) officials at his BCA residence in Blantyre where he unsuccessfully pleaded with them to shelve post-elections nationwide demonstrations to pave the way for mediation with the government.
HRDC went ahead with the demonstrations Thursday and marched up to metres away from the palace where they wanted to present the petition pushing for Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Jane Ansah’s resignation over May 21 election results alleged mismanagement.
This was the fourth round of demonstrations in the aftermath of the elections which Malawi Congress Party, UTM and civil society organisations dispute.
