Ballot papers for the March 30 by-elections have arrived in the country.

The papers arrived Friday through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.

They were printed in Dubai.

Speaking at the airport, Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Chifundo Kachale said Malawians should expect smooth by-elections.

“We are delighted to have received the ballot papers on time and we are ready to dispatch all the materials to all designated places in good time,” Kachale said.

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) representative Ken Msonda said he was satisfied with the process.

“We are here to inspect the ballot papers before they are dispatched, so far we are happy with the process,” he said.

The by-elections will be held in seven constituencies and two wards following the death of office bearers as well as fulfillment of court orders.

These include Karonga North West, Ntchisi North, Lilongwe Nsinja South, Zomba Changalume, Lividzi ward in Balaka West and Chitakale ward in Mulanje South.
