Bankers in Big Bullets’ territory

Bullets and Silver

Wavering giants Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers have a chance to put their TNM Super League campaign back on track as they clash at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre this afternoon.

It is a make-or-break game for both sides as they bid to remain in title contention and reduce the gap with leaders Be Forward Wanderers.

Both heavyweights have struggled in recent games with Bullets occupying fourth position with 23 points from 13 games whereas the Bankers lie on sixth position with a point less from 12 games.

Last season, Bullets and Silver shared spoils in both home and away games.

Their first-round match ended goalless whereas the second-round encounter saw them drawing 1-1.

Bullets Coach, Kallisto Pasuwa, said despite his side being hit with injuries to key players such as John Lanjesi, Righteous Banda and Bashir Maunde, the People’s Team has the depth to continue fighting.

“We have youthful players who are developing thick skins and are up to the challenge.

Players like Nickson Nyasulu, Charles Petro and Chimwemwe Idana were instrumental in our match against Wanderers and they have a bright future,” Pasuwa said.

Silver assistant Coach, Lovemore Fazili, admitted that the encounter would be tough but fancied his team’s chances of winning.

“Winning is a must if we are to move up the table. We enjoy playing our passing game at Kamuzu Stadium and we are ready for Bullets,” Fazili said.

Silver have in-form hitman Khuda ‘Ikenna’ Muyaba, Thuso Paipi, Michael Tetteh and Duncan Nyoni as potential match winners whereas Bullets will look up to youthful playmakers Peter Banda, Hassan Kajoke and Mike Mkwate.

In other games scheduled for today, Mzuni host Mlatho Mponela at Mzuzu Stadium whereas second-placed Kamuzu Barracks will entertain Civil Sporting Club at Civo Stadium.

Games continue tomorrow with leaders Wanderers taking on Tigers at Mulanje Park whereas Ntopwa clash with Silver at Kamuzu Stadium.
