Seventh Day Baptists Southern Region Women’s Choir on Sunday made history when they launched their DVD titled Olalikawe Khala Maso at Blantyre Cultural Centre.

Despite not attracting a huge audience, the choir, which is made up of women from six districts, fetched more money during auction.

Just after the group which was beautifully dressed in African print (chitenje) suits had dished out three songs, there was an auction that saw Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) Chief Executive Officer Eunice Napolo getting the first DVD at K400,000.

He then followed it up with other contributions of K500,000, K200,000 and K160,000.

Leaders of the choir Jacqueline Welemu and Bettie Namulu hailed people for the support.

She also said they have made history as women from different districts in the Southern Region by coming up with a DVD.

Apart from the title track, the other songs in the DVD are ‘Ruth,’ and ‘Ndizakondwa’.

During the launch, the choir was backed by Dynamics Band which has renowned members, among them guitarist Collen Ali.
