Barry Uno, real name, Barry Mkorongo will be looking at nothing but the best on Saturday as he gets down to launch his fourth album Maso Atseguka at Robins Park in Blantyre.
It has been a long journey for the artist, who believes he is taking the right track as far as his music career is concerned.
“My music journey would be described as one of a kind; I have seen artists come and go yet I still remain relevant: though some would refer to it as greatness, I regard it as a blessing from God,” said the artist.
He said it has not been easy for him to adapt to change in terms of trends but due to his hard work: focus and originality, he has continued to do well.
Barry Uno described Maso Atseguka as unique in a way that “it appeals to all classes of people.”
“The concepts are relative to what we all go through in life, things that we come across as obstacles and how best we can deal with them as well as how best we can look at life in a positive way. That is why most concepts connect well with what the Bible says,” he said.
The artist was in the past deeply rooted to secular music but he announced he had turned born again.
“Basically it’s because of what I have seen in life and where I was going and so I would want to make music to have a major impact on all people, especially the youth, to look at life positively, to accept struggles as stepping stone to excel and aim higher,” Barry Uno said.
He added that he would want to regard his music as gospel but more as conscious music.
Maso Atseguka was recorded at Pro Pee Records in Blantyre.
“People should expect nothing but fun during the launch. I just want this to be historical and I am not compromising on anything,” he said.
Some of the songs in the album include Wandichotsa, featuring Nepman which is currently enjoying airplay, Suli Wekha featuring Saint, Kudikila featuring Earnest Masi, Tingololerana featuring Kelvin Sings and Size Ya Bo featuring Angie.
His previous albums are Tionana, Legendary and Footprints which were released in 2006, 2010 and 2014 respectively.
The launch is expected to be spiced up by performances from among others Tay Grin, Gwamba, Piksy, Theo Thomson, Saint, Fredokiss, Kelly Kay, Sonye and Martse
