Battle for survival

INTERVENTION—Osman
The battle for survival in the TNM Super League enters exciting stage this afternoon as Ntopwa will face Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium.
This is a must win clash for Ntopwa to keep their survival dream alive.
A loss will mean Ntopwa will join Mzuzu Warriors, who were relegated after a 7-0 defeat to Silver Strikers at Silver Stadium last Sunday.
On the other hand, the match will also be important for Tigers, who are also not safe from relegation.
The two sides are separated by seven points. Tigers lie on position 13 with 28 points from 27 matches whereas Ntopwa are second from bottom with 21 points from the same number of matches.
Ntopwa Technical Director Isaac Jomo Osman said they have to fight for their survival.
“We will try to get the points but we do not want to put our players under pressure,” he said.
Tigers Coach Trevor Kajawa was optimistic that his troops will continue with their impressive display in the last stages of the season.
“This is a crucial match for us and the players know the importance of it. We just need to utilise our game plan so that we collect maximum points,” Kajawa said.
After this fixture, Tigers will also face Mighty Wanderers whereas Ntopwa have matches against Silver and Civil Service United.
Elsewhere, relegation threatened Blue Eagles face a tough test when they face Red Lions at Mpira Stadium. Eagles are on position 12 with 28 points from 27 matches, just two points above the drop zone.
The Area 30-based side needs maximum points in the remaining three matches to be safe from relegation.
Relegated Warriors will host TN Stars at Mzuzu Stadium.
Action will continue Sunday, with Ekwendeni Hammers hosting Karonga United at Mzuzu Stadium.
