BB, Nomads in tricky outing
Title-chasers Be Forward Wanderers, Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers face tricky tests to their TNM Super League title aspirations this afternoon as they engage unpredictable opponents.
Leaders Wanderers will be at Chilomoni Stadium in Blantyre to face Azam Tigers while second-placed Bullets are up against Mzuni FC at Mzuzu Stadium.
Silver, currently third on the table, host struggling Chitipa United at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
The Nomads played out to a goalless draw against the Tigers in the first round, but they must win if they are to maintain their four-point cushion.
Up North, Mzuni will be looking for their first ever league win over Bullets.
The Green Intellectuals made a flying start to this year’s campaign, but were halted by the People’s Team through a 2-0 scoreline in Blantyre when the two met in a first round encounter.
Mzuni Head Coach Alex Ngwira said he is confident that his team could be turn the tables around, considering that they have never lost to Bullets at their backyard.
He said playmaker Lazarus ‘Deco’ Nyemera, who missed his side’s defeat to Blue Eagles a fortnight ago, is fit for this afternoon’s clash.
“This encounter is always difficult, but times have changed a lot and both sides must anticipate a crunching tie,” he said.
Bullets’ assistant Coach, Elia Kananji, said his charges will approach the game cautiously.
He said Mzuni cannot be underrated on their best day and his players need to be focused throughout the game.
“Every team that plays against Mzuni can testify that they are not an easy side to beat. But as a team, we know what we are chasing and getting maximum points is our priority,” he said.
Bullets remain four points behind Wanderers on 51 points, with Silver on 47 points from 24 games.
