Be Forward Wanderers, who are spoilt with strikers, are reportedly closing in on South Africa-based forward Esau Kanyenda.

Details have emerged that Wanderers and the gangling forward, who was released by South Africa’s Polokwane City, have agreed terms.

Wanderers General Secretary, Mike Butao, was not available for a comment but a source confirmed the deal Wednesday.

“He is the type of a player who can give us 12-plus goals in a season. Salary and other benefits have been agreed,” said the source about the veteran player.

Kanyenda’s imminent arrival could pose stiff competition to Wanderers’ strike force comprising Peter Wadabwa, Ishmael Thindwa, Precious Msosa, Jafali Chande, Jabulani Linje and Nigerian Amos Bello.

Wadabwa, Nomads’ last year’s top scorer with 15 goals in the TNM Super League, is, alongside Thindwa and Bello, struggling with injuries.

The former Dwangwa United and South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos player who is expected to arrive today said he would comment on the issue while in Malawi.

The Nomads top the log table with 22 points from nine games.

At the peak of his career, Kanyenda also played for Russian sides, Rostov, Kamaz and Locomotive Moscow.
