Be Forward Wanderers dominate Super League awards

Orlando Pirates-bound midfielder Francesco Madinga has become the second Be Forward Wanderers player to win the TNM Super League Supporters’ Player-of-the-Month award.

Madinga has won the accolade for July and follows in the footsteps of the league’s leading scorer, Babatunde Adepoju, who won the inaugural award for June.

The youthful star amassed 1,613 votes, followed by Nyasa Big Bullets’ exciting winger Peter Banda, who got 1,133.

Silver Strikers talisman Khuda Muyaba came third with 276 votes.

Madinga said he owed the award to teammates and fans.

“It is my teammates who have helped me to impress and win supporters’ hearts. I am very excited with this award. There are other players who were equally deserving and could have won. So I do not take this for granted,” he said.

Speaking at the draw in Blantyre on Wednesday, TNM Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager Limbani Nsapato said they were delighted that supporters were casting votes for their best players.

Nsapato said the award underscored the company’s commitment to rewarding stakeholders for their respective roles in the game.

“Madinga has emerged supporters’ Player-of-the- Month after outclassing other outstanding players who were shortlisted by TNM in partnership with league managers, Super League of Malawi. We therefore have the pleasure to reward him for his excellent performance,” he said.

TNM plc also conducted the second monthly draw of the Pokopoko ndi Zampira promotions.

The draw saw 40-year-old Dedza based Wanderers fan, Ramson Ndekha winning the monthly grand prize of K1.5 million.

Out of the amount, K500,000 would be channelled towards the purchase of football equipment for a football club of Ndekha’s choice.

Reacting to the news, Ndekha who correctly predicted that Kamuzu Barracks would beat Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0, said the money would boost his business.

Nsapato said the promotion was achieving its objective.

“Zampira Promotion aims at enhancing football fans’ engagement and developing the game of football in the country. Since the launch of this seasons Pokopoko ndi Zampira promotion in June, participation has been overwhelming,” he said.
