Be Forward Wanderers have engaged mobile network services operators, TNM and Airtel, as the club intensifies its effort to raise K100 million monthly.
Wanderers Chairperson Simon Sikwese said the project is at an advanced stage and it will be launched soon.
“We have secured short codes from TNM and Airtel where our supporters will be able to send money through Mpamba and Airtel Money wallets respectively without travelling long distances,” he said.
Cash-strapped Nomads is asking its one million supporters to be contributing K100 monthly to reach their targeted amount of K100 million.
Wanderers will lose their sponsorship from Japanese firm Be Forward Limited on December 31 this year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Wanderers Supporters Committee Chairperson Mervin Nkunika, who hatched the idea, has appealed to the teams supporters to patronise the drive.
“We are parting ways with our sponsor Be Forward Limited and as supporters we need to assist the club financially,” he said.
Wanderers is sailing in troubled waters following debt estimated to be around K70 million. The fell into debt after participating in Caf Champions League in 2017.
