Be Forward Wanderers eye more friendlies
Be Forward Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, has said his charges will not be ready to play against AS Vita in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League next month unless they play three more friendlies.
Madeira spoke on the need for more friendly games after playing against UD Songo in Mozambique on Saturday when the TNM Super League champions lost 0-1.
The Nomads will also fine-tune against Masters Security FC in Lilongwe on Saturday.
Masters are preparing for Caf Confederations Cup games after being drawn against Petro de Luanda in Angola.
Madeira described the loss to Songo as a learning curve ahead of their trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the match against Vita.
He said his team is contemplating playing against Zambia’s Lusaka Dynamos in a strength testing match.
“We are playing against Masters this weekend. But we need another test match. The trip to Zambia is subject to confirmation. Once we manage to do this, then we will go to the DRC well-prepared,” Madeira said.
According to Caf, Wanderers will play against Vita on the weekend of February 9 in the first-leg of the preliminary round, with the return leg to be played a week later.
