Be Forward Wanderers get boost

Be Forward Wanderers Board of Trustees Chairperson, Rashid Gaffar, has promised to give Nomads players game bonuses to inspire the side to strengthen its chances of clinching the TNM Super League.
Gaffar visited the players during their morning training session at the Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday where, among other things, he promised bonuses if the team beats Blue Eagles on Sunday.
“The match against Blue Eagles is a must win for us to grab the league title. So I thought it wise to visit the boys and encourage them,” he said.
Gaffar has also allowed the team to use one of his new buses until the season ends.
Wanderers’ Team Manager, Victor Maunde, said Wanderers players receive K30,000 game bonus for a win which translates to K900,000 per game for thirty players.
“Basically the issue of game bonuses is sorted out by our executive committee. Our sponsor pays the players’ salaries only. We are very happy with the good gesture from our trustee as he will meet half of the total amount of game bonuses for our remaining matches,” he said.
Wanderers’ third vice-captain, Mike Kaziputa, said Gaffar’s gesture has motivated the side ahead of the clash against third-placed Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Stadium on Sunday.
“It is a motivation to us and we need to play to win. We are determined to bring maximum points,” he said.
Wanderers, who last won the title in 2017, lead the table with 48 points from 22 matches whereas closest challengers, Nyasa Big Bullets, who are itching to defend the league, are second with 46 points from the same number of matches.
Recently Wanderers players boycotted training sessions due to unpaid game bonuses.
Meanwhile, Eagles Captain, Micium Mhone, said they would not underrate Wanderers having won the first round match 3-2 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Mhone said beating Wanderers was their ultimate goal as the Eagles were eyeing the second slot on the log table.
“We know we are playing at home but this does not give us a guarantee that we will win the match. We have to play with our lungs out if we want to move to position two. So, yes it will be a nice game,” he said.
