Be Forward Wanderers in injury crisis
TNM Super League giants, Be Forward Wanderers’ injury crisis deepened on Saturday as seven players joined the treatment table.
Midfielder Malumbo Gondwe was carried off the field in a 2-2 draw against Epac at Civo Stadium on Saturday.
He joins Jabulani Linje, Ernest Tambe, Peter Mselema, Rafik Mussa, Nenani Juwaya and Isaac Kaliati on the list of injuries.
Nevertheless, Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, said the team had depth and will cope with the injuries.
“We are crippled but there is no need to panic,” Madeira said in an interview yesterday.
The Nomads host Kamuzu Barracks in the Carlsberg Cup round of- 16 at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
Against Epac, Nomads featured Richard Chipuwa, who was reportedly not yet fully fit, due to the suspension of Peter Munthali.
The development forced the Nomads to name goalkeepers’ trainer, Vales Kamzere, as a reserve goalkeeper. Bester Phiri was de-registered.
There has been good news though with gangling forward, Ishmael Thindwa, returning to full action after a long spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Harry Nyirenda and Louis Minjale have also joined the team.
In a post-match interview on Saturday, Madeira was concerned with the performance of his team.
“We fear for our jobs now because we are a big club and we need to be winning such games,” he said.
