Be Forward Wanderers supporters bay for Vice GS blood
Be Forward Wanderers supporters have demanded the immediate firing of the teams Vice Secretary, Christopher Kananji for interfering with the supporters’ operations at the club.
One of the sources said the supporters were irked after learning that Kananji was dividing Lilongwe and Blantyre based fans on their role at the gates.
“We feel he has a hidden agenda because he always favours Lilongwe based fans. He overlooks our operations here in Blantyre. He needs to know that Blantyre supporters committee is regarded as a national committee, as such we can make our recommendations,” he said.
Wanderers Supporters Chairperson, Yamikani Kaliyapa, could not confirm nor deny about the development.
“We have made our stand known to the executive and you can get it from them,” he said.
A member of Wanderers main executive committee, who did not want to be named, confirmed that emails had already circulated indicating that Kananji has been fired as the team’s vice secretary.
“But I feel it is an issue that can be sorted without firing someone,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Kananji said he was aware of the development but insisted that he cannot be fired by Blantyre based supporters.
“I was elected by over 400 people and it doesn’t make any sense for less than 20 people to demand for my removal. At least they were supposed to submit their grievances to either executive committee or trustees to summon me for a disciplinary hearing,” he said.
Kananji said it was a plot from a section of Wanderers fans who do not want the team to do well.
“They want to split our attention. Instead of focusing on the crucial Carlsberg Cup final they want us to waste time arguing. This is precious time we can’t afford to lose. We need to consolidate our efforts to help the team prepare well for the Carlsberg Cup final,” he said.
