A four-member Malawi National Beach Volleyball Team is in Zambia for Zone VI Beach Volleyball tournament expected to end on Monday.
The team comprises Henry Dominic of Mipuniro Spikers, Annette Chadza of Blue Eagles Ladies, Vixenz’s Emma Sakala and Griffin Lwazi of Lilongwe Spikers.
Vam Publicity Secretary McGodwin Mangani said Chadza and Sakala would compete in ladies category with Dominic and Lwazi taking part in men’s category.
He said the squad has been accompanied by coach Thulani Maphosa.
“We have the confidence that our representatives in both ladies and men’s category will do well. Our coach Dr Thulani Maphosa scouted and trained the team. Our wish is to do well at the event,” he said.
Mangani said Vam sourced sponsorship from the Malawi Olympic Committee.
“It is good to participate in such zonal games because that is where we assess our standards. We thank Moc for the support,” he said.
The tournament comes after Malawi hosted an international tournament in Mzuzu last weekend.
Malawi’s Wolves emerged men’s champions after dethroning Tanzania’s Mbeya Best VI in the men’s category while Prison Leopards from Zambia emerged ladies champions after a 3-2 win over Wolves Ladies.
