Bedir invests K38 million in football pitch
By Mabvuto Kambuwe:
Bedir International School has constructed a state-of-the-art mini football pitch in a bid to contribute to football development in the country.
The artificial grass pitch was officially inaugurated during a colourful ceremony in Lilongwe on Friday and is ideal for seven-aside tournaments.
The cost of laying down the pitch, which is at the school’s premises in Area 10, Lilongwe, is estimated at $50,000 [about K38million].
Principal of Bedir Lilongwe campus, Mehmet Atmaca, said the facility was developed in line with their sports policy.
“Our policy is to improve the minds of our students through sports as they pursue their studies. We believe that sports and education go hand-in-hand. We are looking at possibilities of constructing a main football pitch,” Atmaca said.

“We appreciate what the school has done. It is the first time for us to see a sports facility of this nature in the country. We need more facilities like this one to develop talent at the grassroots,” Phiri said.
