Ben Mankhamba sources scholarships for students
Musician Ben Mankhamba, who is also Village Head Chingalire, continues to play a crucial role in changing lives of people in his area through his Chingalire Rural Growth Centre in Lilongwe with the latest being sourcing scholarships for needy students.
The Kambanga Mwala star revealed through his Facebook page on Wednesday that he was filled with joy, thanks to Zipatso Academy, who accepted his request to offer some scholarships to the bright underpriviledged primary school students around Chingalire centre.
“About 70 of them sat for the entrance examinations competing for five scholarships, the same position being competed for by students from Salima,” he said.
The musician, who through, the rural growth centre, has been embarking on different projects among others, teaching the youth arts and hosting different performances including a play Mwahuno hosted by actor Mbene Mbunga Mwambene on Wednesday, said Promise Banda and Florence Masache emerged the winners from the area.
“Congratulations to them. Everything needed for secondary school education will be provided by Zipatso Academy. Their family stories and lives can make you cry that is why I am very happy to have done something,” the singer and guitarist said.
He said the move will also motivate their friends to aim high in their education.
Meanwhile, several people have hailed Mankhamba for taking up a role of empowering the youth to achieve their goals through education.
