Big 3 in easy Rainbow wins

The top three teams in the Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League continued their merciless beating of minnows during games played over the weekend.

Defending champions Kukoma Diamonds thrashed Prison Sisters 81- 31 in an away assignment in Zomba on Saturday whereas First Choice Tigresses kept piling pressure on the leaders with a 68-33 win over Serenity Stars.

Following the win, Diamonds still hold a perfect record in the regional league and top the table with 26 points from 13 games whereas Tigresses are second with 24 points from the same number of games.

Diamonds assistant Coach, Noel Mussa, said they were taking each game seriously to defend the championship with a perfect record.

“We have to win every game convincingly if we are to successfully defend our title. Our target is to conclude the season with a perfect record,” Mussa said.

Tropical Queens were also in ruthless mood as they humbled Machinjiri Sisters 68-33.

Queens lie third with 22 points, having also played 13 games.

The team’s coach, Christina Mkwanda-Nsinji, said they were working hard to remain in title contention.

“If the leaders slip up, we will close the gap and capitalise on their mistakes,” Mkwanda- Nsinji said.

In other matches, Chilomoni Sisters beat Vicky Sisters 82-22 while Shizaella Sisters defeated Chileka Sisters 61-27.

Polytechnic are at the bottom of the 11-member log table with two points from 10 games while Machinjiri are on position 10 with three points from 12 games.
