Big Bullets’ aspirants face scrutiny

Aspirants, whose reputation is questionable, will not be entertained for Nyasa Big Bullets’ Supporters Committee’s elections scheduled for Gymkhana Club in Zomba on February 4.

Gregory Madeya, Chairperson of Bullets’ Organising and Electoral Committee, issued a press release yesterday ahead of the club’s annual general meeting, whose agenda includes the elections. Deadline for submission of the nominations is February 1.

“It is not automatic that when members submit their nomination forms [then they] are eligible to stand. It will be up to the Electoral Committee, with recommendation from the Board of Trustees, to scrutinise each and every candidate,” the statement added.

“Those aspiring for positions should carefully read and understand the conditions attached to the nomination forms. Members are also being informed that only those with no outstanding issues with the club, Fam [Football Association of Malawi] and Sulom [Super League of Malawi] are eligible to stand.”

Isaac Osman is among those reportedly interested in challenging the incumbent Stone Mwamadi for the chairmanship of the supporters’ wing.

The AGM will also determine the prospect of Bullets’ Executive Committee’s elections.

So far, former Bullets’ chairperson, Kondi Msungama, is reportedly waiting in the wings to challenge incumbent main executive committee’s leader, Noel Lipipa.

Some Bullets fans and officials have of late been entangled in disciplinary issues bordering on misuse of funds and violence.
