Big Bullets bar Sports Promo owner

The future of Nyasa Big Bullets annual awards hang in the balance as the People’s Team board of trustees have instructed the TNM Super League champions to stop dealing with the initiator of the project, Sports Promo managing director, Geoffrey Tamutamu.

According to a letter dated January 6, 2016 and signed by trustees chairperson, James Busile and secretary Jim Kalua, Tamutamu has outstanding issues with the team, and there was need for the Sam Chilunga led-Bullets executive to consult before engaging such officials.

“We would like to bring to your attention the fact that the director of Sports Promo, Mr Geoffrey Tamutamu is a former member of the executive of Big Bullets Football Club which was dissolved,” the trustees explained.

“There were some issues which he did not sort our as regards to marketing… Several letters were sent to him and no response has been provided to the board of trustees to date.”

The letter further stated that it was inappropriate to allow Sports Promo to organise Bullets annual awards.

“The board of trustees will have no problems with Sports Promo if their director can provide a written response,” the letter added.

Chilunga could not be reached on Wednesday, while Tamutamu said he could not comment because the letter was not addressed to him.

Kalua, while confirming to be part of the signatory to the letter, said it was an internal matter.

“Of course, I signed the letter but then it was not meant for the public,” he said.

Bullets vice-secretary, Kelvin Moyo, said they received communication from the trustees through Chilunga to avoid doing business with Sports Promo.

“The trustees are our bosses as such we can’t fight against them. Once Sports Promo clears its issues with the trustees, we will receive clearance to deal with them,” he said.
