Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers are familiar foes in domestic football and this afternoon they clash in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium.
Surely, the hour has come for both sides to show their supremacy against each other.
This is a battle between two highly respected coaches in domestic football.
Bullets have Zimbabwean mentor Kalisto Pasuwa, who is gunning for a fourth straight Super League title and 16th for Bullets.
But Daniel Kabwe for Silver, who guided the Central Bankers to second spot last season, will be seeking to steer his title hopes on track after a poor start to the season.
The two sides shared fortunes in four matches last season. Silver registered 1-0 and 4-2 victories over Bullets in the TNM Super League and FDH Bank Cup respectively.
Bullets claimed 2-1 and 5-4 wins in the league and the Airtel Top 8 Cup final.
Smarting from a 2-0 victory over TN Stars at Kasungu Ground, Bullets will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record whereas Silver, who came from behind to force a 2-2 draw against Sable Farming, will be hoping to halt Bullets record.
Sounding calm and composed, Pasuwa said the clash against Silver is always a tricky one.
“After playing some games away, we are coming home but it will not be easy. We need to put everything in place to win this match because Silver are very organised team,” he said.
Pasuwa has all the players available for selection except captain John Lanjesi due to injury and goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda who is on suspension. Goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba is likely to keep his place whereas Hadji Wali, Precious Sambani, Kesten Simbi and Blessings Mpokera are also likely to start.
Babatunde Adepoju, Patrick Mwaungulu and Chimwemwe Idana are potential match winners for Bullets.
In all fairness, both teams have what it takes to win this match.
Ahead of the match, Silver Assistant Coach Macdonald Yobe said his troops were on a serious mission to collect maximum points.
“We are not intimidated at all. We have good players who can match Bullets. But we just need to believe in ourselves and work hard,’’ Yobe said.
In this afternoon’s clash, Silver will welcome back Blessings Tembo and Chawanangwa Kaonga, who passed late fitness test.
But Frank Banda, Chisomo Mpachika and Levison Maganizo have been ruled out due to injury. Goalkeeper Charles Thom, Stain Davie, Taonga Chimodzi and Patrick Macheso are likely to start.
The two sides are separated by 13 points on the log table with Bullets on top with 29 points from 11 matches whereas Silver are on position with 16 points from 10 matches.
Elsewhere, second-placed Blue Eagles will host Kamuzu Barracks at Nankhaka Stadium this afternoon.
The Eagles will be hoping to return to winning ways after two consecutive barren draws against Dedza Dynamos and Civil Service United.
On the part of KB, they are also coming from a goal-less draw against brothers-in- arms Mafco at Chitowe Stadium.
Last season, the two teams shared spoils in all the two league matches following barren draws. Eagles are second with 27 points from 11 matches whereas the soldiers are fourth with 18 points from 10 matches.
Action in the TNM Super League will continue tomorrow as third -placed Mighty Wanderers host Red Lions at Kamuzu Stadium whereas Tigers will face Civil at Mpira Stadium.
At Chitowe Stadium, Mafco will meet Rumphi United whereas Karonga United host TN Stars at Karonga Ground.
