Big Bullets duo pulls out of Flames
Nyasa Big Bullets youthful duo Peter Banda and Patrick Phiri have been withdrawn from Malawi national football team squad that is scheduled to face Lesotho on Friday and Sunday in away friendlies.
Flames Coach, Meck Mwase, said both players picked knocks during the Blantyre derby played at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
“Peter Banda and Patrick Phiri have minor injuries so we have let them go back home. We need them to be fully fit,” he said.
“We called 27 players into camp and we will pick 22 to travel with us to Lesotho. We have other players that can equally fit into the team.”
Both players are not regulars in the Flames squad but provide attacking options.
Mwase said his main mission in Lesotho was to keep the team in good shape.
“We just want to show that we are doing the right things. We want to keep the boys in shape because we know we have very important games in November,” he said.
The Flames will participate in Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers later this year.
