Big Bullets fail to lure Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan

Nyasa Big Bullets have hit a snag in their attempt to re-engage Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan to beef up the Lloyd Nkhwazi-led technical panel.

However, Bullets appear on course to hire their former coach, Elia Kananji, who though aware of the team’s interest in him, insisted that he has not received a formal offer.

Jolted into action following three consecutive league draws, Bullets’ Chairperson, Noel Lipipa, confirmed that they resolved to beef up the technical panel with Ramadhan and Kananji until the end of the season.

But the team was caught unawares as Ramadhan will be attending a Confederation of African Football (Caf) A-Licence Coaching Course in Blantyre for the next six weeks.

“The performance of the team has been disappointing in recent games and we asked the technical panel on how best to address the problems. The technical panel recommended that we should bring on board Kananji and Ramadhan to act as advisors until the end of the season,” Lipipa explained.

“Sadly, we have discovered that Kananji and Ramadhan are committed to other engagements somewhere.”

The technical panel was recently warned that they risked the sack if they had lost against Silver Strikers on Sunday. The game ended goal-less.

“We may be engaging Ramadhan and Kananji to assist. Defending the title is key for the club and we will do what every necessary to achieve that objective,” Lipipa wrote in a response to Bullets’ trustees recently.

Bullets have since resolved to continue with the current coaches while also pursuing Kananji, who is reportedly playing an advisory role for Blantyre United.

“I have been receiving phone calls from some people asking me about the same issue. Bullets have not approached me,” said Kananji while clarifying that he had not joined Tiyuni FC.

Bullets, who are on third position on the log table with 42 points from 24 games, have also approached their former team manager, Enos Chatama, to act as an advisor to the panel.

Chatama said he would first evaluate terms and conditions of the role before accepting the offer.
