Collecting full points in two back-to-back assignments over the weekend in Karonga has given TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets the belief that overtaking leaders Be Forward Wanderers in the race for the title is possible.
The People’s Team thumped Savenda Chitipa United 3-0 on Saturday before edging Karonga United 1-0 the following day.
Bullets assistant Coach, Peter Mponda, described the trip as mission accomplished.
But Mponda said they were not carried away by the weekend results as they have not managed to overtake their bitter rivals Be Forward Wanderers.
“Our aim was to collect full points in both games and we have done just that. We need to keep winning to enhance our chances of retaining the title. We are doing our best to maintain the winning mentality,” Mponda said.
Former Malawi national football team defender, Clement Kafwafwa, said he expects the title fight to go down to the wire.
“Wanderers must make sure they collect maximum points to keep their dreams alive. But Bullets have an upper hand as most of their matches in the second round are at home,” he said.
Bullets are second on the table with 38 points from 18 matches, just two points behind Wanderers.
