TNM Super League leaders and defending champions, Big Bullets have introduced Chairman’s Gala to reward outstanding players this season.

The gala will be held in Blantyre early next month, vice-general secretary, Kelvin Moyo confirmed the event that will have fans voting the outstanding players, such as best goalkeeper, midfielder, striker and defender through SMS.

He said the event was one way of generating income for the club and also to bridge the gap between supporters and players. Bullets are discussing with TNM over the SMS initiative.

Meanwhile, Bullets say they will not rush back to action three senior players who are recovering from various injuries.

Defender-cum- holding midfielder, Bashir Maunde, goalkeepers Owen Chaima and Vincent Gona resumed light training last week as they bid to gain match fitness.

Bullets technical director, Billy Tewesa, said they were delighted that the trio was making steady recovery.

“It hasn’t been easy on our part. We really struggled because a lot of players were injured. Now the situation is stabilising. In this case, we feel Bashir is closer to match fitness whereas Vincent and Owen might take up to three more weeks to be fit for action,” he said.

Tewesa said the trio would have to fight for their starting places.

“They are senior players, but they are not guaranteed starting places. We don’t want to rush them into action when they are not fully fit because this thing might backfire,” he said.

Bullets face tricky away assignments this weekend when they meet Epac on Saturday and Dedza Young Soccer on Sunday.

The People’s Team top the table with 47 points from 20 games while Mafco lie second with 37 points from 21 games. Silver Strikers are third with 36 points from 22 games. Fisd Wizards anchor the 15-member table with 15 points from 21 games.
