Nyasa Big Bullets magazine project has hit a snag after recording poor sales.

Following the setback, Bullets management has suspended the sales of the product amid concerns that K4,000 price was on a higher side.

The teams Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga refused to disclose actual details including how many copies had been sold since its launch on February 26.

“It was just a market test nothing big. So we cannot say how much money we realised from the test sales. We are focusing on how best to reach out to our supporters. It is somehow difficult as you know we have coronavirus cases in the country so we need to plan carefully,” he said.

Nevertheless, Chigoga admitted that the product had faced hitches on the market.

“We embarked on a market test recently with an aim of examining our supporters’ response. Being a big team, we are a listening club. The supporters find it expensive. We will go back to the drawing board to explore ways on how best to meet our supporters’ request half-way,” he said.

However, Bullets’ Director of Supporters Stone Mwamadi said his office was not consulted on how the best to utilise the Peoples Team fan-base on the market.

“It was being handled at management level. Maybe it was so as they were only doing a market test. Following the findings on market test, we believe they will engage us [supporters executive] to offer ways so that the supporters should embrace this product. However, we need to be realistic K4,000 was a bit on higher side for a supporter. We hope management will reconsider the cost when putting back the product on the market,” Mwamadi said.

A local football commentator George Kaudza Masina hailed Bullets for the magazine project.

“Bullets have demonstrated maturity and a team that has really gone commercial they are full of ideas. This is what modern football club administrators should always strive to achieve all they need now is to find a price that is accommodative and viable to its supporters,” said the former Football Association of Malawi General Secretary.

Bullets are now a commercial entity and the magazine is part of the teams’ activities.

The magazine was launched at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre in what was billed as a colourful function on February 26.

However, six down the line the product is still struggling to have a breakthrough.

Silver Strikers is also operating as a commercial entity.
