Nyasa Big Bullets have promoted winger Ernest Petros from their reserve team.

Petros was on the substitutes’ bench when Bullets thrashed Blantyre United 4-0 in a TNM Super League match played at Chilomoni Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday.

Bullets Coach, Rodgers Yasin, commended Petros’ commitment to training.

“He is a good winger. I know him from the lower leagues. We are just working on some thing for him and, trust me, soon, you will see that the boy really deserves a place in the senior team. He is like Davie Banda; he really ticks when given a chance to play. Sometimes, he [Petros] even scores,” Yasin said.

Bullets General Secretary, Albert Chigoga, said Petros has been training with the senior team for some time.

“Of course, he played during our recent friendly match in Lilongwe. The coaches have been assessing him. His presence on the bench is an indication that he has impressed the coaches in training. As you know, it is our policy to be promoting players from the reserve side,” he said.

Chigoga further said the team wants to promote Chimwemwe Idana and Nickson Nyasulu from the reserve team.

“Idana’s inclusion in under-20 and senior teams’ training camps is an eye-opener for to us to act quickly before something happens.

“The Flames coach [Ronny van Geneugden] saw something in the player. He needs to be treasured before other teams make advances on him. Idana and Nyasulu are very good players and they need space in our senior team,” he said.
