Big Bullets sign Karonga United’s Azizi Mwakifuna

TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets have signed Karonga United defending midfielder Azizi Mwakifuna on a three-year deal.

Bullets Chief Administrator Albert Chigoga and Karonga Chairperson Alufeyo Chipanga confirmed that the deal was completed Monday.

Chigoga said the signing was made following recommendations from their technical panel and that the player would be unveiled this week.

“Our technical panel asked us to sign Mwakifuna and we have done just that. Karonga United were very cooperative and everything has gone according to plan. What remains is for us to officially announce that Aziz Mwakifuna is now a Nyasa Big Bullets player,” Chigoga said.

Chigoga said the club would also sign other players during the first round break should the coaches wish to beef up their squad.

“Since we are almost done with the first round, we will wait for a report from the head coach to see if there is need to sign more players. But we believe the team is in good shape,” he said.

Chipanga confirmed the development, saying it would be difficult for them to bar Mwakifuna from joining Bullets.

“It is the wish for every Malawian footballer to play for a big club like Bullets. They told us that they wanted the player and we started talking. We allowed the player to go to Blantyre and discuss personal terms,” he said.
