Big Bullets through to Carlsberg Cup semi-finals
Nyasa Big Bullets stood so stout as they progressed to the Carlsberg Cup semi-finals after beating Premier Division side, Cobbe Barracks, 1-0 at Balaka Stadium Sunday.
Bullets date Red Lions in the semi-finals after the soldiers hammered Kasungu Police 4-1 in another quarter-final yesterday.
Holders Be Forward Wanderers meet Moyale Barracks in the other last-four duel.
Cobbe started the match on a high as they denied Bullets early chances with striker Bright Munthali shooting off target twice within 10 minutes.
But Kondwani Kumwenda led the People’s Team in breaking the deadlock with the solitary 61st minute strike after a free-kick.
The goal was a game changer for Bullets who enjoyed possession in the late stages, especially after the introduction of Fischer Kondowe and Henry Kabichi for Mussa Manyenje and Munthali, respectively, to bombard Cobbe’s goalkeeper Chisomo Kaseghe.
Bullets Team Manager, James Chilapondwa, was all smiles after the game whereas Cobbe Coach, Chifundo Masapula, conceded defeat.
