TNM Super League action returns this afternoon with the big three of defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets, Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers all in action.
Bullets face another daunting task with two crucial assignments this weekend after suffering their first defeat of the season when they went down 2-1 to Blue Eagles last weekend.
Moyale are Bullets’ first opponents at Mzuzu Stadium this afternoon before the Blantyre-based side faces Mzuni at the same venue tomorrow.
The defeat to Eagles probably sent some shocking waves in the Bullets camp but the defending champions have a chance to restore their pride against Moyale and Mzuni.
Bullets are on position seven with 10 points from five games whereas Moyale are eighth on the log table with the same number of points from six games.
Bullets have a major boost as Captain John Lanjesi and Gomezgani Chirwa have recovered and are available for selection.
In the absence of Lanjesi and Chirwa, Bullets struggled at the back and were exposed by Eagles strikers last week.
Ahead of the match, Bullets Team Manager, James Chilapondwa, said they expected tough matches.
However, Chilapondwa said he was confident that his charges would bounce back.
“We do not have time to mourn last week’s result. Our focus is on the two games. We
need to get good results. Every game is different, so we are confident of collecting maximum points,” he said.
Bullets Coach, Calisto Pasuwa, is likely to make changes to the side which struggled, especially at the back and in midfield, against Eagles.
Chiukepo Msowoya, Lanjesi, Chimango Kaira and Peter Banda carry Bullets’ hopes in today’s encounter.
But Moyale Coach, Charles Kamanga, said he had assembled a good squad capable of beating any side in domestic football.
Kamanga believes his charges are in the right frame of mind ahead of the match.
“We had good preparations throughout the week. If we play according to our plan, we will surely collect maximum points,” he said.
The soldiers would pin their hopes on Deus Nkutu, Wacheta Mwenefumbo, Lloyd Njaliwa, Boyboy Chima and Victor Gondwe.
In today’s game, Moyale will be without Gastin Simkonda due to injury whereas Lovemore Mitengo is out due to sickness.
At Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, third-placed Be Forward Wanderers welcome rookies Mlatho Mponela. The Nomads are brimming with confidence, having managed two consecutive victories in the past two weeks.
They thrashed Dwangwa United 5-0 before beating Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 2-0 to collect maximum points.
Mlatho are also coming from a successful weekend after registering a 2-0 victory over Savenda Chitipa United on Saturday.
In other games, leaders Eagles face Karonga United at Karonga Stadium whereas Dwangwa host KB at Chitowe Stadium. Silver Strikers host Mighty Tigers at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
Eagles lead the 16-team table with 14 points from seven games followed by KB with the same number of points from the same number of games. Wanderers are third with 13 points from six games.
